Register today to join Travis McLing, Chief Geologist and Directorate Fellow, Idaho National Laboratory at this webinar on Friday, January 16, 9:00 am PST (12 pm EST), as he discusses the importance of critical minerals, highlights global supply chain challenges (particularly China’s dominance in rare earth elements) and outline INL’s role as a regional and national hub for developing solutions. He will cover INL’s pilot projects, research capabilities, and strategies for addressing supply chain challenges.

Travis McLing is a geologist and geochemist with more than three decades of experience, specializing in geologic mapping, fieldwork, carbon sequestration, geomicrobiology, and hydrochemistry. He currently serves as the carbon storage lead for Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and the Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES), where he leads research and business development across both organizations. Over the past seven years, Travis’s work has centered on developing geochemical models to characterize CO₂ transport and mineralization in subsurface environments, including studies of natural carbon capture and storage analogues. His research, conducted in collaboration with organizations including the U.S. Department of Energy, Shell International Exploration, NETL, and regional partnerships, has received national recognition and has contributed to strategies for evaluating potential CO₂ storage sites. In addition, Travis chairs the Idaho Carbon Issues Task Force as part of the Idaho Governor’s Carbon Sequestration Advisory Committee. See his INL profile here.

A Q&A session will follow the presentation.
