I applaud Representatives Mike Ezell and Mariannette Miller-Meeks for introducing the Unleash America’s Offshore Critical Minerals and Resources Act. At a time when access to critical minerals determines our ability to lead in renewable energy infrastructure, national defense systems, and advanced technologies, strengthening our supply chain with secure and domestic mineral sources is essential to reducing reliance on geopolitically vulnerable areas.
By codifying the recent Executive Order that declared it the policy of the United States to advance American leadership in seabed mineral development, this bill will safeguard the environment and advance U.S. national interests. It directs key federal agencies to streamline permitting, identifies promising seabed areas, and fosters collaboration, empowering American companies to lead in the development of sustainable resources.
The global race for critical minerals is underway. With this legislation, we will ensure that American leadership and innovation are not left behind—but instead, lead the charge, responsibly harnessing the vast resources off our shores.
